The Macomb party designated the confluence as the source of the Colorado River. Army topographic expedition led by Captain John Macomb located the confluence of the Green River with the Grand River in what is now Canyonlands National Park in Utah. This data, representing over 1,000 USGS topographic maps, spans a variety of contour intervals including 1 and 2 meter and 5 and 10 foot. Winters (December through mid-March) are generally cold from south to north in Connecticut.
